Improving Communication and Decision-making

How can you improve communication and decision making? Two practices, stated simply, are:
• be intentional about all business practices
• communicate openly and honestly.

At the Vermont Employee Ownership’s (VEOC) annual conference June 9, I will co-present two sessions on these topics.
“50 Ways to Improve ESOP Communications” is a panel and idea jam session.
“Consensus Decision-Making” is a practical workshop, with Adam Trott of Collective Copies in Amherst, MA.

This conference is great for non-employee owned companies, too. Register at http:// www. veoc. org/ 2010program.html.

Is “Managing Change” an Oxymoron?

The high percentage of failed change initiatives—70% in one study—might lead us to think so. To beat these odds, you have to know a lot about how parts of the organizational systems interact, what makes people tick, and what makes you tick.

Join me for “Managing Change in Organization”, an engaging summer experience at the University of Vermont. In a lab setting where your own experience is front and center, explore the challenges you face, and “work out” with tools for planning and guiding change.

Register at UVM’s website: http:// www. uvm. edu/ ~summer/ course.php? term=201006&crn=60383.
